This was reported by Professor Salmor Alymkulov of the Iskhak Razzakov State Technical University at the National Water Forum.
According to him, Lake Issyk-Kul, which has a unique self-cleaning system, needs constant monitoring and support.
«We, a group of scientists from different countries, conducted research on our own and grant funds. However, this is not enough as such works should be systematic and not one-off. The state needs to find funds for constant monitoring of the lake's condition, creation of a research center and acquisition of a specialized vessel,» he said.
The professor emphasized that irregular study of the Issyk-Kul ecosystem can lead to irreversible consequences.
«We should not miss the opportunity to prevent negative changes in the state of the lake,» he added.
Issyk-Kul is one of the key natural attractions of Kyrgyzstan, and the issues of its conservation require a comprehensive approach from the scientific community and the state.
