03/28/2025, 17:20In 2024, microcredit organisations in Kyrgyzstan issued loans worth KGS 65 billion, and the number of recipients exceeded 1 million people. This indicates a significant increase compared to 2023, when the number of people covered by microcredit increased by 1.5 times. As a result, the volume of issued microcredits increased by 28.4%.
Most of the loans issued were in large cities and regions. The largest amounts of microcredits were issued to residents of Bishkek city, which accounts for 24% of total loans, as well as Osh oblast (16%), Chui oblast (15%) and Jalal-Abad oblast (15%). These regions were also home to the largest number of microcredit recipients.
Regarding the directions of use of loan funds, a significant share of loans was for consumer needs, which accounted for 54 per cent of the total. In 19 per cent of cases, loans were used for agricultural development, and about 12 per cent for trade and catering. The share of microcredits directed to construction was about 5%.
