    More than 15 new HPPs will be commissioned in Kyrgyzstan in 2025

    In 2024, dozens of small and medium-sized HPPs were commissioned in the country, including: ‘Bala-Saruu’, ‘Kainama’, ‘Kok-Art’, ‘Ysyk-Ata’ and others. The construction of the strategically important HPP ‘Kambar-Ata-1’ with a capacity of 1860 MW, which will significantly strengthen the energy security of the country, is also underway.

    Particular attention is paid to small HPPs: the government is creating favourable conditions for investors, which makes it possible to launch new facilities at an accelerated pace throughout the country.

    What HPPs will appear in Kyrgyzstan in the coming years?

    According to official data, by the end of 2025, such plants will be put into operation as:

    • Leilek HPP (6 MW, Batken oblast)
    • Koysu HPP (8.7 MW, Issyk-Kul oblast)
    • Sokuluk HPP-3 (9.5 MW, Chui Oblast)
    • Tuyuk HPP (5.9 MW, Chui Oblast)
    • Karagai-Bulak-1 and -2, Ysyk-Ata-2, Kondukskaya, Alai Hydro and others. - in total more than 15 projects at different stages of implementation

    More than 10 new facilities are scheduled to open in 2026, including:

    • Turgentskaya HPP (26 MW, Issyk-Kul region)
    • Maili-Suuyskaya HPP (26 MW, Jalal-Abad oblast)
    • Orto-Tokoy HPP (21 MW, Issyk-Kul Oblast)

    In 2027 they will be joined by:

    • Jeruyskaya HPP (28 MW, Talas oblast)
    • Chandalash HPP (30 MW, Jalal-Abad oblast)
    • Papan, Chon-Kemin, Zhardy-Kayynda, Nookat and other plants.

    Over 10 more facilities are planned for the period 2028-2030, including:

    • Tomonku Tarskaya HPP (19 MW, Osh oblast)
    • Kyshtuutskaya, Kichi-Keminskaya, Konorchokskaya and other small HPPs
