The main focus was on breeding livestock of the EAEU countries.
The participants approved amendments to the list of genetically determined diseases of pedigree farm animals, which will allow for increasing genetic potential by excluding animals with poor genes from the reproduction system.
Also approved were unified approaches to the boniting, which will increase the accuracy and reliability of evaluating the animals' pedigree and productive qualities. The Committee members considered international experience in the field of genomic selection, the current status and possible steps towards introducing genomic analysis for predicting the breeding value of animals in the EAEU.
An important point of discussion was the creation of technological cooperation between the states and the development of agro-innovation centres. Proposals were made to improve the infrastructure of agricultural products processing, storage and transport. The participants discussed approaches to ensuring the accessibility of food for the citizens of the Union.
All the documents considered are based on the initiatives of the Union leaders expressed at the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council meetings and the provisions of the ‘Eurasian Economic Way’ declaration.
