10/10/2024, 08:14Last year, 5.8 million counterfeit goods' units were detected in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) states. This was reported by Yernar Bakenov, Director of the Department of Business Development of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), at the Advisory Committee on Intellectual Property meeting.
The largest volume of counterfeits was recorded among clothing and footwear, toys, auto parts, food and alcoholic beverages, and household appliances and electronics. At the meeting on 9 October, analytical documents covering the period from 2019 to 2023 were presented, including a five-year review with recommendations to improve legal regulation in intellectual property.
The issues of legal protection of trade secrets, implementation of the agreement on trademarks, creation of a unified customs register of intellectual property objects and a search system for industrial objects protected in the EAEU countries were also discussed.
