The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported on changes in the rules for issuing permits for labour activity in Hungary, including for Kyrgyz citizens.

From 1 January 2025 Hungary introduced new conditions for obtaining national visas for employment purposes. According to the new rules, such visas are not issued to citizens of those states with which Hungary or the European Union does not have an agreement on readmission - return of persons illegally staying on the territory of the EU.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, these measures are aimed at strengthening migration control and creating legal mechanisms for the return of foreign nationals in case they violate migration laws.

In this regard, the Kyrgyz side is working on the issue of concluding readmission agreements with the European Union, including Hungary. According to the Ministry, such agreements would simplify the processes of legal employment of Kyrgyz citizens abroad and ensure more sustainable migration co-operation between the countries.
