The construction of the hydroelectric power plant is being carried out by the Naryn Production Enterprise LLC. The construction site is located 40 kilometers west of the city of Naryn, near the confluence of the Naryn and At-Bashy rivers. The project is being implemented taking into account the environmental characteristics of the region—to minimize the flooded area, a diversion scheme with a dam, a water intake, channels, and a pressure basin is being used.
A 6.5-kilometer diversion canal will be built from the water intake to the station along the right bank of the Naryn River. Four 25-megawatt hydroelectric units will be installed in the HPP building, which will enable the plant to generate up to 450 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per year.
The project aims to meet growing domestic demand for electricity, develop environmentally friendly energy, and fulfill international export commitments under the CASA-1000 project, which aims to supply electricity to Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Currently, more than 600 construction specialists are working on the site. Next year, at the height of the active construction phase, the number of workers is planned to increase to 1,000.
