    Akylbek Zhaparov invited China to consider opening branches of its banks in Kyrgyzstan

    Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Zhaparov had an important bilateral meeting with Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Li Qiang during his working visit to Pakistan.

    Akylbek Zhaparov congratulated Li Qiang on the 75th anniversary of the PRC, noting that the holiday of such a significant neighbour is also a holiday for the Kyrgyz Republic, as the Chinese proverb says: ‘A good neighbour is priceless wealth’.

    During the conversation, he emphasized the high level of political dialogue and significant achievements of this year, including the signing of a trilateral agreement on the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, the opening of a joint company in Bishkek, the reopening of the Bedel checkpoint and the launch of the Junda oil refinery. The Head of the Cabinet of Ministers also said that bilateral trade is actively developing and has reached nearly $20bn.

    Li Qiang, in turn, noted the dynamic development of cooperation and expressed readiness to work together to strengthen bilateral relations.

    Akylbek Zhaparov outlined the need for further development, including projects to improve the work of the Bedel crossing point through the construction of the Barskoon - Ychturpan - Aksu road, optimisation of the work of the Torugart and Irkeshtam points, as well as the opening of new air corridors.

    In addition, the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers proposed to develop financial cooperation, including interbank cooperation, opening branches of Chinese banks in Kyrgyzstan and assistance in issuing securities in yuan. Projects on mineral resources development, energy, agricultural exports, cultural and humanitarian relations and tourism were also discussed.
