Business angels in Kyrgyzstan invested in a startup for the first time

Business angel club chANGELS has announced its first investment - it participated in a seed round of startup Dubformer, which uses artificial intelligence to localise video content.

Leading the round was Almaz Capital, with investors also including s16vc, FinSight Ventures and notable angels including Microsoft Translator founder Arul Menezes and ex-Netflix head of international original films Funu Maduka.

Dubformer AI is a platform that helps translate and dub videos into 70+ languages while maintaining up to 99% accuracy through quality control. The startup reduces localisation costs by 20-30% and already offers over 400 voices for dubbing.

‘Dubformer is changing the localisation industry and we are excited to be part of their success story,’ said Almaz Edilbaev, co-founder of chANGELS.

The chANGELS club was founded in late 2024 and already unites 70+ investors, mostly from Kyrgyzstan. Its goal is to support promising Central Eurasian startups entering the global market.
