12/24/2024, 16:27At the end of 2023, the amount of “green” projects of the Eurasian Development Bank amounted to more than $600 million, according to the first published Sustainable Development Report of the bank.
These include projects in the field of renewable energy, green transportation and energy efficiency.
It is specified that the accumulated portfolio of “green” projects is already about $1.2 bln. Moreover, according to the methodology for tracking climate finance, the entire current portfolio of EDB “green” projects is related to financing climate mitigation, i.e. mitigation and reduction of the negative effects of climate change by preventing, reducing or absorbing greenhouse gas emissions.
The largest amount of the bank's climate finance has been directed to projects in Kyrgyzstan and Armenia.
“Significant climate finance projects in 2023 were modernization of Almaty TPP-3 in Kazakhstan, construction of Kulanak HPP in Kyrgyzstan and modernization of Sevan-Razdan HPP cascade in Armenia,” EDB informs.
