04/29/2025, 15:55Kyrgyzstan has ratified a loan and grant agreement with the Asian Development Bank for a total amount of $38.8 million for the implementation of the project “Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Development Program in Naryn Region - Additional Financing.”
The relevant law was signed by President Sadyr Zhaparov. The documents were signed on November 4 last year in Bishkek and ratified by the Jogorku Kenesh on April 2 this year.
The financing includes a grant of $5.35 million and a loan of $27 million for a period of 32 years. The loan is granted on the terms of an 8-year grace period and an interest rate of 1% during the grace period and 1.5% in subsequent years. Kyrgyzstan's co-financing of the project is set at $6.45 million.
The money will be used to provide 23 settlements in the Naryn region with quality drinking water and to install local treatment facilities. As a result of the project, 46,330 people will have access to improved water sources.
The project is scheduled to last six years and aims to improve the quality of life and reduce poverty by improving sanitary conditions.
