    Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan intend to increase trade turnover to $500 mln

    Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Adylbek Kasymaliev met with the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, who arrived in Bishkek on a state visit, at the State Residence of the President of Kyrgyzstan №1.

    During the meeting, the parties had a thorough exchange of views on a wide range of issues of mutual interest, discussing the prospects for further development of bilateral cooperation.

    Head of the Cabinet of Ministers Adylbek Kasymaliev emphasized the historical significance of the completion of negotiations on the delimitation of the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border, calling this achievement “the result of the political will of the Presidents of both countries.”

    “The completion of the delimitation process creates favorable conditions for confidence building and activation of mutually beneficial cooperation.
    I am convinced that this decision will create new opportunities for the intensification of bilateral relations and development of cooperation in various areas of mutual interest, opening a new era in our relations,” Adylbek Kasymaliyev emphasized.

    One of the key areas of cooperation was energy. The parties discussed the completion of the CASA-1000 project, which will unite the energy systems of the two countries and create new opportunities for the export of electricity. In addition, they paid special attention to industrial cooperation, including the creation of joint ventures for processing agricultural products and entering the EAEU markets.

    The President of Tajikistan expressed confidence that the potential of economic interaction between the countries is far from being exhausted and emphasized the need to expand trade ties. In turn, Adylbek Kasymaliev noted the possibility of increasing trade turnover to $500 million, which would be an important step in the development of bilateral relations.

    At the end of the meeting, the parties confirmed their readiness to further deepen cooperation and expressed confidence in the successful implementation of joint initiatives.
