Bishkek Mayor's Office is looking for a private partner to modernise the capital's wastewater treatment facilities

Bishkek Mayor's Office jointly with the Centre for Public-Private Partnership of Kyrgyzstan announced the start of direct negotiations with potential partners for an ambitious project to reconstruct and modernise wastewater treatment facilities. This step aims to solve one of the capital's key environmental problems and improve the residents' quality of life.

The treatment facilities, which have been in operation since 1976, have fallen into disrepair over the decades - the equipment is badly worn out and much of it is beyond repair. Within the framework of the project, it is planned to completely replace outdated systems, which will allow the plant to operate at full capacity again - up to 380 thousand cubic metres of wastewater per day.

The project is estimated at $60 to $125 million and is designed for a service life of the new equipment of at least 50 years. An important aspect is the introduction of modern technologies that will allow the station to be managed remotely via the Internet. Thus, the number of employees working at the station should be reduced from 140, working there now, to 46 people.

All interested parties can take part in negotiations on the project.
