Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Akylbek Zhaparov and Minister of Energy Taalaibek Ibraev visited the Orto-Tokoy HPP construction site to assess the progress of works.

General Director of JSC “Chakan HPP” Shakirzhan Saidov reported on works performed, noting that the preparatory stage of construction is proceeding according to the plan. The project is being implemented jointly with China National Machinery Industry Corporation and started on June 29. The facility is planned to be completed in three years.

The plant's design capacity will be 21 MW, which will provide for 75 million kWh annual generation. To date, the following key milestones have been completed:

•    a temporary road for the tunnel construction has been built;
•    a work camp for 45 employees has been constructed;
•    a transformer with connection to the 10 kV network has been installed;
•    bridge concreting has been completed;
•    a blasting license for tunnel excavation has been obtained.

Currently, topographic and excavation works for the construction of the main building of the HPP are underway. Akylbek Zhaparov tasked to strictly follow the schedule and complete the project within the established timeframe.

Taalaibek Ibraev also visited the production shop of reinforced concrete products of Balykchy RPS and checked the readiness of power grids for the fall-winter period. He familiarized himself with the readiness of the Issyk-Ata RPS facilities and the construction of a new RPS building in Ivanovka village.
