    To date, 20 HPPs have been commissioned and 27 more are under construction

    For many years Kyrgyzstan operated the Toktogul HPP and Bishkek CHPP without proper modernization, despite their urgent need for renewal. He said this during the celebration of the 90th anniversary of the Ministry of Energy.

    The head of state recalled that in the past the country even introduced an emergency regime in the energy sector. However, since then a number of reforms have been carried out in the industry, special attention has been paid to the eradication of corruption and efficient use of resources.

    According to the President, agreements have been reached on the construction of hydroelectric and solar power plants. In August 2024, Sadyr Zhaparov signed a decree aimed at attracting investment in clean energy projects.


    “We provide investors in the energy sector with a number of tax preferences,” he said.

    The President also said that 20 HPPs have been put into operation so far and 27 more are under construction.
