12/29/2024, 09:00Minister of Labour, Social Security and Migration Ravshanbek Sabirov held a meeting with the new head of UN Women in Kyrgyzstan, Sayed Ahmad Sadik.
The meeting, which took place within the walls of the Ministry, became a platform for discussing key areas of activity and strengthening partnerships. The Minister mentioned the importance of continuing to work within the framework of the State Programme for the Promotion of Women's Leadership until 2030, focusing on ensuring equal rights and opportunities for all regardless of gender differences in various spheres - political, social, economic and cultural.
He also emphasised that Kyrgyzstan has successfully fulfilled its obligations under the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women. Ravshanbek Sabirov noted the existing challenges, such as the increasing level of violence against women, calling for strengthening preventive measures and support for victims. He also stressed the need to integrate gender mainstreaming into government programmes and strategic plans, including the climate agenda, and to strengthen institutional capacities in the field of gender equality through capacity building of specialists at different levels.
In turn, Syed Ahmad Sadiq thanked for the opportunity to hold a constructive dialogue, promising full assistance in developing partnerships with government agencies and other stakeholders.
