04/15/2025, 11:30Today, April 15, within the framework of his official visit to Japan, Minister of Labour, Social Security and Migration Ravshanbek Sabirov held a meeting with the President of IM Japan Mr. Hitoshi Kanamori. The parties discussed the expansion of bilateral cooperation in the field of employment of Kyrgyz citizens in Japan.
The Minister expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and stressed the importance of partnership with IM Japan, noting the Memorandum of Understanding signed in January 2025 as an important step towards institutionalisation of cooperation. He proposed to increase quotas for employment of citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic, expand areas of cooperation, including digital technologies and robotics, as well as to consider the possibility of establishing a training centre of IM Japan in our republic.
The Japanese side, in turn, highly appreciated the potential of Kyrgyz citizens, expressed readiness to increase the term of contracts for technical trainees from one to three years and accept more citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic. The interest in developing cooperation within the framework of the state programme ‘Employee with Special Skills’ was also confirmed.
Finally, the parties agreed to strengthen information exchange, develop training and consider launching new joint initiatives, including pilot internships and developing a joint roadmap for co-operation.
IM Japan, formally known as International Workforce Development, is a public foundation established by the Japanese government to manage the Technical Internship Training Programme (TITP). Launched in 1993, the programme aims to support international cooperation by training young people from developing countries in Japanese technology, skills and work culture.
