    Freight traffic in Kyrgyzstan to grow by 11.6% in early 2025

    In January-February 2025, the volume of freight traffic in Kyrgyzstan increased by 11.6% compared to the same period last year. A total of 900 thousand tonnes more was transported.

    However, in February, the volume of freight transport decreased by 8.9% compared to January 2025, despite an 11.4% increase compared to February 2024. The bulk of road haulage is done by individual entrepreneurs, who accounted for 57.9% of all haulage.

    Cargo turnover of all types of transport in January-February 2025 increased by 9.7% to 51.3 million tonne-kilometres. In February, compared to the same month last year, the growth was 8.5%, but compared to January there was a decline of 23.4%.

    As for passenger traffic, 17.4 million more people were carried in January-February 2025 than in 2024, an increase of 18.8%. In February, passenger traffic increased by 22.7% compared to February 2024 and by 6.8% compared to January this year. Road transport, including buses, minibuses and taxis, accounted for more than 98% of all passenger traffic, carrying 20.1 million more people than last year.
