On 2 April, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov met with Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexei Overchuk, who arrived in the country on a visit.

During the meeting, the head of state expressed confidence in the fruitfulness of the negotiations and emphasised that the agreements reached would contribute to further strengthening of the strategic partnership between Kyrgyzstan and Russia. He noted the successful work of the Kyrgyz-Russian intergovernmental commission, as well as the readiness of the two countries to develop co-operation in all spheres.

Alexei Overchuk, in turn, emphasised that relations between Kyrgyzstan and Russia are built on the principles of mutual respect and consideration of the interests of both sides. He congratulated Kyrgyzstan on the successful settlement of the border issue with Tajikistan, calling it an important step for stability in Central Asia.

The Russian Deputy Prime Minister also noted the importance of the partnership between the two countries within the framework of integration associations , including the EAEU, CIS, SCO and CSTO, stressing that Kyrgyzstan's participation in the Eurasian Economic Union contributes to the development of its economy and strengthens the position of the entire association.
