04/06/2025, 10:54China urged the US to correct the wrong imposition of "reciprocal tariffs" and resolve trade and economic differences with China and other countries through equitable, respectful and mutually beneficial negotiations, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said on Thursday, Xinhua news agency reported.
Under the pretext of "parity", the US has imposed additional duties on goods exported from China and other countries, which seriously violates the rules of the World Trade Organisation and seriously undermines the rules-based multilateral trading system, Guo Jiakun said.
"The Chinese side categorically opposes this and will take necessary measures to resolutely defend its legitimate rights and interests," the Chinese diplomat said, reiterating that there are no winners in a trade war and there is no way out in protectionism.
