A three-year limitation period for wage disputes has been defined

The Jogorku Kenesh of Kyrgyzstan approved the draft of the new Labor Code and the accompanying bill on its introduction in the second and third readings, for which 79 deputies voted.

The new version of the Labor Code introduces the following changes: a single penalty rate of 0.25% for delayed payment of wages, vacation pay and other payments is fixed. A three-year limitation period for wage disputes is defined. Fixed interest rate for late payment of debt obligations has been eliminated.

Labor remuneration now depends on the quantity, quality and complexity of work based on professional standards, including time-based, hourly and piece-rate systems.

The minimum wage for unskilled labor is set in stages up to the subsistence minimum. The procedure for the execution of labor contracts and their maintenance in electronic format, including an electronic labor book, has been simplified.

Labor contracts may provide for options of remote and combined remote work. The Code has been supplemented with new concepts such as combined remote work, national qualification system, professional standard and dual training. Labor relations and disputes of civil servants are regulated, and protections for pregnant and lactating women against harmful and heavy work are underwritten.
