    Ibraev suggested Azerbaijan to buy oil from Kyrgyzstan

    Minister of Energy of Kyrgyzstan Taalaibek Ibraev had bilateral meetings with representatives of delegations from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkey and Hungary, attending the 4th meeting of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS). The main purpose of these talks was to deepen cooperation in the energy sector and the implementation of joint projects.

    During the conversation with Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov, Ibraev highly appreciated the experience of this republic in developing oil deposits. He also suggested that the Azerbaijani side conclude a long-term contract for oil supply and refining in the Kyrgyz Republic and participate in hydropower and RES projects.

    In addition, it was proposed to consider the possibility of preferential financing worth $2 million through the Azerbaijan-Kyrgyz Development Fund to install chargers for electric cars.

    Shahbazov supported these proposals. He came out with the initiative to create a working group on oil delivery and invited Kyrgyzstan to participate in the upcoming investment forum on RES.

    During the meeting with the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations and Foreign Affairs of Hungary Peter Starai, the prospects of cooperation in hydropower and RES, supply of European equipment for hydropower projects and involvement of Hungarian investors and specialists in promising projects were discussed.

    Starai noted the high level of energy technologies in Hungary and expressed readiness to cooperate, emphasizing the interest of Hungarian investors in constructing hydropower stations in Kyrgyzstan.

    Furthermore, Taalaibek Ibraev held bilateral meetings with representatives of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan on the Kambar-Ata-1 project. During the talks with the First Vice Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Sugnat Yesimkhanov they also discussed the construction of small HPPs and coal supplies to the Bishkek CHPP.  With the Deputy Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Mamatkarimov the issues of the electricity transmission, implementation of the Kambar-Ata-1 HPP project, construction of HPP on the Chatkal River and creation of a coal logistics centre to export solid fuel from the Kyzyl-Kiya checkpoint to Uzbekistan were considered.


    The parties expressed hope for further deepening of partnership in the discussed areas.
