A quarantine weed was detected in wheat imported to Kyrgyzstan

In the course of quarantine phytosanitary control at the ‘Consolidated post’, located near the checkpoint ‘Chaldovar’ on the Kyrgyz-Kazakh section of the state border, a quarantine noxious weed - mustard creeper - was detected in a 270 tonne consignment of wheat imported from Kazakhstan.

This weed was identified in samples submitted to the quarantine phytosanitary laboratory in Bishkek.

Notification of violation of the Unified Quarantine Phytosanitary Requirements of the EEU is being prepared to be sent through official diplomatic channels to the authorised body of Kazakhstan in the field of plant quarantine.
